About Me
It is my belief that sexual pleasure, intimacy and the ability to connect with ourselves and others is essential for us to thrive and meet our full potential. We are exposed to so many expectations and sexual references in our everyday lives but without the open discussion, healthy dialogue and education to fully embrace sexuality as pleasure.
My journey to becoming a therapist started long before I trained. I qualified as a nurse in 1996 and my first job was working in inpatient HIV care and infectious diseases. I recognised that talking about sex and intimacy was at best difficult and at worst ignored. I have had many different roles over the years and have made it my mission to develop my skills so that I am able to readily build therapeutic understanding and facilitate difficult conversations.
My skills and knowledge base has evolved working as a Sexual Health Advisor in a number of sexual health and HIV specialist clinics in the UK including: Mortimer Market, John Hunter/Kobler Clinic and Burrell Street Clinic. In the last year I have been coordinating the Sexual Health Counselling Service at Burrell Street Clinic, working with the young adults HIV clinic at Harrison Wing and held a caseload of psychosexual clients. After many years working for the NHS and being redeployed to ICU during Covid, I have decided to focus on my private work.
Having completed my Diploma in Integrative Psychosexual Therapy from The Centre for Psychosexual Health, I became an accredited member of the College of Sex and Relationship Therapists (COSRT). I apply the principles of ACT Therapy to my work as I feel it is a powerful basis to move towards a more fulfilled life in which we are fully present.
I have broad experience having trained as a professional actor, Pilates instructor and massage therapist. I bring the principles of all my disciplines and life experience to offer a pluralistic, collaborative approach to my therapeutic work for the mind and body.
